Butter beans, also known as Lima Beans are a larger variety of bean, pale white to light yellow in colour when mature. These beans are delicious and soft with a creamier flavour than most, they are both rich and buttery, no doubt resulting in their very appropriate name.
Why Should I Get Organic Butter Beans?
Like pretty much all pulses, Butter Beans are very nourishing, providing a great deal of sustenance from a very modest serving. They are an excellent source of molybdenum and a very good source of dietary fibre, copper, manganese, folate, phosphorus, protein, potassium, vitamin B1, iron, magnesium and vitamin B6. Adding these to your diet will in no small way ensure that your eating is varied, healthy and yummy.
You can use butter beans in substitute of most beans without problem, and because of their large size they absorb much flavour lending themselves very well to Soups, Casseroles and Curries, where they really soak up all the juices, humming with taste! They make a great addition to dishes that would typically be "Meaty", giving your recipe an additional source of protein and forming a strong base for the rest of your dish to sit on.
